  • The ability to do something well; expertise

2.  My own understanding of the term 'skills' is being able to do something particularly well. Someone who has good sufficient skills is someone who can do something well and to a high standard and understands and has sufficient knowledge of what they are doing. Within media there are many skills which are needed for production. For example being able to work and use the equipment safely and correctly. For instance setting up the camera and tripod and making sure you use it wisely to create the best possible outcome. Another example might be using the editing suites. You need to use skills well in the editing suites to make sure your final piece is to a high standard and exceeds what you hoped to achieve. Other skills we may use Personal, Learning and Thinking skills. These include team work, creative thinking, independent enquiry, reflective learner, self-managers and effective participant. All these skills will be important when carrying out our tasks as a group and as individuals.
